Polimom Says

Lagniappe

I read somewhere that Obama’s still thinkin’ the New Orleans Saints are living some kind of fairy tale.
Maybe — but that’s not why they’re gonna win in Chicago on Sunday.
Some have written about Destiny, and how this spectacular Saints season was in the stars.
Maybe — but that’s not why they’re gonna win either.
The New Orleans Saints have become America’s team… and if the entire country is pulling for them (except for that little town in Illinois), then surely the hearts of the nation will carry them to victory.
That may be true, but it’s still not why the Saints are gonna win on Sunday.
The Saints are providing a rallying point — a brilliant, hopeful sign amidst the sadness, bad news, and frustration along the Gulf Coast, and they deserve to go to the Super Bowl this year.
That’s certainly true — but that’s not why they’re gonna win either.
They’re going to win on Sunday because they’re a better football team.
Everything else falls under the heading of lagniappe — miraculous, beautiful, welcome, healing, glorious lagniappe.

GEAUX SAINTS!

Oh — and I’m picking the Pats, straight up and against the spread, too.
