Polimom Says

New Orleans chooses

New Orleans has re-elected Ray Nagin to serve as mayor for the next four years, and while people all around the country are going to read into that what they will, Polimom hopes they, and all those who care about the city, will take something away from Mitch Landrieu’s concession speech.
Landrieu reminded everyone that New Orleanians now need to step into the future together — to speak with one voice, and pull together behind Nagin. The job of rebuilding the city is monumental, but it isn’t going to get done if everyone is divided.
He’s so right.
In fact, given the horrid and pathetic mess the rest of the country is in politically, Polimom thinks there might be some ironic justice if New Orleans could show everybody else what unity actually looks like.
I hope they can.

Update:  I think I’m far more disturbed by the reaction in the blogosphere this morning than by anything going on in New Orleans.   The villification of New Orleanians is making me shiver.
