Polimom Says

Texas – CD 29

(On October 6 2008, I sent letters to each candidate running for US Congress in Harris and Fort Bend counties, asking them to publicly commit to fiscal responsibility via PAYGO.  I’m posting the replies (and lack thereof) by race / district, but I’ll also be writing about my general reaction to this civics experiment, and in some cases, for which candidate I would vote.)
Texas’ Congressional District 29 (map) has three candidates running for this seat.  Neither incumbent Gene Green (D) nor challenger Joel Grace (L) responded to my repeated requests for a response.

Eric Story – Republican

No, will not support PAYGO

Further information:
Eric Story is challenging for this seat.  I’ve linked his website (above), but it doesn’t appear to be functioning properly.  Here’s his complete email statement:

Once elected, I will fight for the US Taxpayer and for a restoration of Fiscal Responsibility.
I will fight to end the waste of the taxpayers money by first working to eliminate unconstitutional departments within the government.  It is my firm belief that almost 100% of our Foreign Aid is unconstitutional and must be halted.  We must have oversight on the spending of all remaining departments to make sure that no more 1000.00 screw-drivers are purchased and that no official uses the taxpayer money for self gratification.
The only way that we will ever get spending under control is to replace lifetime politicians with men and women that have actually had to work to a budget and understand the concept of “waste not want not.”

I queried those who didn’t answer the question directly for a more specific answer.  Mr. Story replied:

We must eliminate waste so that we can Pay as we go
