Polimom Says

When up is down (and red is blue)

Hard to keep track of who’s a Democrat and who’s a Republican the last couple of days, have you noticed?
First came the Republicans, pouncing on their oil sponsors:

In a letter released Monday, Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee urged Bush to order a federal probe into possible gasoline price gouging or market speculation.
“There is no silver bullet,” Frist said Tuesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” according to The Associated Press. “We need to make sure that any efforts at price gouging be addressed and addressed aggressively.”

and now it’s the Democrats, cutting taxes!

Democrats are set to introduce a measure that would create a “federal gas tax holiday” by eliminating the federal tax on gas and diesel for sixty days, RAW STORY has learned.
The measure, proposed by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), would reduce the cost of gas by $0.184 per gallon and the cost of diesel by $0.244 per gallon. The move, aides say, will provide $100 million dollars per day in relief.
Democrats say the money will be made up by cutting six billion dollars in tax breaks to oil firms. Currently, the money from the federal gas tax goes to the Highway Trust fund.

What’s an Independent girl to think these days?
