For years, Dear Husband and I have talked about finding a bolt-hole for Polimom. My heart just needs a place with trees and mountains where I can hike for hours and disappear into nature.
By definition, this “hole” needs to be a place to which I can “bolt” easily — i.e. within reasonable driving distance.
Sigh…. have you looked at a map for Katy, Texas? There ain’t nuthin’ in this immediate area that suits.
The need remains, though, so I decided to reach a tad farther afield. I expanded the geographic range to “under 8 hours driving time” — and ended up in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas last weekend.
It took a bit over 7 hours to get there, and it was worth every minute spent.
Full set of images can be found here. I didn’t shoot nearly as many as I could have. Was too busy checking things out through my “normal” eyes… and hiking.
I’m thinking I’ll be going back. Soon. To hunt for a hole…
