All weekend, the blogosphere’s been exploding about Ann Coulter’s remarks at CPAC.
“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I’m – so, kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions,” said Coulter, whose comment was followed by applause.
Clearly, narcissism can only take one so far. (I love this picture, btw. She looks simultaneously surprised and deranged — pretty appropriate, I’d say.)
In response to this inevitable-to-everyone-except-conservatives trainwreck, a number of folks have stepped right up to the plate. Condemnation, calls to shun her, Open Letters… all good stuff, though it would have been more admirable had it preceded her totally unsurprising viciousness.
Evidently, “faggot” is worse than “raghead”.
Sigh…
So — what are the chances of the more rational bloggers, columnists, and pundits taking this issue to its logical next step and ousting the multitudes of red and blue Coulter-clones?
