Good morning world!
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Jefferson Parish has announced they will be letting their residents back in, starting tomorrow, for damage assessment and to grab some personal belongings.
As we are all aware, one has to pass through Jefferson Parish to get to Algiers. I’m working now to finally pin this question down. It’s high time somebody remembered that Orleans Parish has other places that need official information.
More soon – as soon as I hear.
Update – 10 am – Everybody be patient. I’ve got some of the info we need, but the question is too important to jump the gun. I’m waiting for clarification on a few details. Soon……

It’s noisy on AP tonight. There are three helicopters cruising up and down the streets, shining huge spotlights at the houses and surrounding yards. At only 20-30 feet elevation, they are apparently generating a welcome breeze, and of course their …
The constant influx of floods, storms, death, and destruction is taking a toll on my normally good humor. In stressful times, some people eat chocolate, while others gorge on cherry pie (my personal favorite). This works really well on a …
Wilma. I can’t help it, I think of the Flinstones. It’s a totally innocuous name – or was. Overnight, Wilma went from Cat 2 to Cat 5, with the lowest mb pressure on record – a very intense storm. For …
It was good and noisy here about 2 a.m. The wind finally got more serious, and for about 3 1/2 hours, it was howling. It’s still blowing blue blazes, but from the NNW now. As far as I can tell, …

U guys are too funny! I’ll just be happy to be there for the big party there is certain to be, down the line a ways.
polimom, you have been a wonderful source of information and hope for so many people who need it right now.
I’m Arletta de Levee’s (from Belleville) daughter in San Francisco. Mom is in Dallas now and on her way here.
Mom wants to know if anyone has heard from her friend Bobby Zablar on Atlantic. He lives right across the street from the gated community.
Also, Mom wants to know if anyone has heard about how to get in touch with Barry Kern, or how the Kerns are doing.
Thank so much for what you are doing.
This is Elsa. I spoke with Hambone last night. The ole coot wouldn’t leave. Says he has gas and running water and is still his old self, alive and well and crazy as hell.
To answer Natasha’s/Arletta’s question, last I heard the Kerns were all together in Houston and were planning on going to their home in Mississippi. This news came from Sabine, Brian Kern’s right hand woman in the office. All Kerns are safe. I have been emailing Bobby Zabler. No response so far.
Someone else told me that Jack Fine was on the news and said he was going to stick it out with his gin.
Polimom, thank you! I feel like a two-timed displaced Algierinian since I lived on Gen. Meyer across from the Aurora Country Club for 48 years (still have the home) and now living in CA for the last 5 years. Everyother month I return to New Orleans to visit my kids/grandkids. I’m looking for any bits and pieces of information I can find and bless you for gathering some of those bits and pieces and allowing me to share in the AP world. I am a Behrman graduate..does that count? 🙂
Does anyone have a good phone number for Jack Fine? If so please send it to me. Thanks,
John Eubanks, guitarist at old point on Sunday
