  1. “Given how vociferous the far left has been in its calls for a united front against the Republicans and George Bush, it’s not surprising that some folks may be deciding there’s not much future for more centrist views. They’ve come across as shrilly inflexible, contributing their fair share to the increasing partisanship, disillusionment, and isolation.”
I found it interesting that you were being so selective about so-called “Democrats” a.k.a. DLC while clearly and intentionally neglecting the fact that the far-right Religious Right are purging the centrists and moderators out from their party too. The bigger question is: Where’s your comment on that?
I also found it not surprising that many lunatic far-right Republicans united front and wailed against the Democrats and Bill Clinton when he was a President. Nowaday, they bend themselves inhumanely backward over assailing Americans for not being groupthink.
This article says all about Republicans and their “loyalty, utterly partisanship politics and incompetent above country and policies” philosophy.
Just need to point out what you missed.

  2. Hi Tony,
Thanks for your comments. Given that this post was about the Democrats, specifically, I’m not sure how including commentary here about the GOP would have been clarifying. So… yes, I did indeed clearly and intentionally neglect to talk about them.
I have written about both parties, separately and together, many times in the past. (here and here for instance)
However, one thing I have not found on the GOP side — and I’d like to — is a definable group of moderates, like the DLC, or even the Blue Dogs. Since you’ve brought it up, do you know of any Republican coalitions who are similarly grouping together?
