You know something? Even if they (the powers that be) decide tomorrow that they’re not going to allow a single soul to rebuild in NOLA’s 9th Ward, the very least they could do is get some debris clearing, removal, and clean-up going in there.
Four months later – 2 days before Christmas – they should NOT still be finding bodies.

There are a number of very vocal folks (including me) who support the total rebuilding of New Orleans. It strikes me as incredibly discriminatory to tell one group of people they can rebuild, while discouraging another. I am speaking with …
Just had a call from Gen Collins (near Holiday & MacArthur), and have just a little to share: The phones in the area have started to work sporadically (on again off again). So keep trying… Overall, this area looks pretty …
Has anybody been following the story about the Musicianâs Village being planned by the Habitat for Humanity? Initially, it didn’t sound well thought-out (to me), but as it has been fleshed out, it’s grown into an interesting idea. There’s some …
Evidently, the Louisiana Legislature has gotten the message. People are absolutely fed up with the old ways – at least in terms of schools in New Orleans. Whether tomorrow will be significantly better won’t be known for some time; certainly, …
Wow, that’s the second one this week.
The article doesn’t say where in the Lower Ninth. I can understand if it was found near the levee breach because of the level of destruction there. But, if it was anywhere else, I have to wonder…
Shocking. I’m posting a link to your blog from mine. The suits in DC have all gone to their comfortable homes for Christmas, while bodies lie rotting in our city. “Dismal” and “disgusting” are kind words to apply to those politicians right now.
The 9th ward flooding was no accident. Think about it…. if the French Quarter and the CBD were flooded instead of the 9th ward, what would New Orleans have left to pull in the money? The people of the 9th ward died for tourism! We’ve heard for years that the Corps(e) of Engineers had explosives that they would use on the levee system in order to save New Orleans from flooding. What makes you think they didn’t do the same thing they did during hurricane Betsy?
deadtalk:
I’m so sorry that you’ve bought on to this urban legend. The spreading of that rumor is one of the most damaging repercussions of the entire Katrina disaster (imho).
What does it take to convince people that the levees weren’t deliberately blown?
