  1. The goal for the race for 2008 almost seems set by yesterday’s results:
First one back to the middle wins. (And the Dems have been given a headstart.)

  2. This Congress either has a lot of promise to it with so many new moderates in there, or it will be one of the least productive in history.
If with a 55 seat majority the Republicans complained about still not having enough seats to get everything done they wanted, just imagine the turmoil in the senate with a 51 seat majority. If your majority party got there with even a few moderate people, that makes it very hard for either side to guarantee getting what they want to the voter base. Ultimately neither base will be happy with this Congress…but hopefully the moderates will be happier if that is the case.

  3. Heard this a.m. on CNN, “Congressional sessions in the last two years of a presidency have, historically been the least productive.” Gridlock until ’08? Probably. And………..if you’re heavily invested in stocks and bonds, that’s a GOOD.

My money’s on the former… IF the edges take a step inward. If they don’t, then 2008 will be the year of the third party, I think.
