Yesterday felt downright schizophrenic to me. There was so much conflicting information coming from “official” sources that obviously contradicted the reality coming from Algiers itself…. I’m sorry for those of you who no doubt followed all that with bewilderment. I posted a topic about the Mayor’s announcement in the forums. It might be a good place to discuss the situation. There’s a lot to talk about at the moment.

And finally – I was asked to post this particular email by the sender. I don’t have a forum for the topic, and am not planning to open one, although I have heard this message from many of you. Please know that your letters have all been received with gratitude (and often with tears). I’m just glad to have helped some.

Alistair – One good turn deserves another. Thank you for going around and taking pictures of the houses. By chance, there were two of our house and they verified aerial views of damage to the roof. Sometime back we gave you a painting of a victorian woman au naturel. Little did we know, at that time, that you would relieve our minds about our house with your pictures. Bless you.
Just spoke with my husband who is at our home in Walnut Bend. He stated crews are in WB as we speak cutting up the fallen trees in the neighborhood. He states police are constantly patrolling in the neighborhood. Our neighbor is a policeman and he was patrolling with others on foot through the homes on our street last night after dark. There is also a police staging area in the Oak Park Baptist Church parking lot on Kable Dr. My husband says they have a few lights running on a generator at night and that is the ONLY light to be seen after dark. Hopefully soon electricity will be restored to the area. I will post comments here as I learn more from him. Hoping to all be home again one day soon………..charleyanna
