Polimom had an interesting conversation last week with someone who wanted to know about Algiers, and Katrina, and my involvement with events in New Orleans after the storm. This person had contacted me by email and asked specifically for a time to talk (such a rare nicety in these modern times), and thus gave me some time to revisit the past.
So Polimom took that stroll down memory lane, and was immediately engulfed in the emotions, fears, and astounding sense of community from those days right after the storm. It was nearly overwhelming to re-read the posts and many heart-wrenching comments from those blog entries.
When was the last time you revisited those days, Algiers?
It’s been over six months now, and many who read Polimom today weren’t part of those horrifying, yet somehow gratifying, weeks. So, while Polimom is off gallivanting all over London, I’d like to invite all of you on a journey into the not-so-distant past, to Algiers, on the West Bank of Orleans Parish.
