Sigh….
It was very sad this evening in Polimom’s den, as the Saints’ wonderful season ended with a less-than-stellar performance.
There I was in my easy chair, surrounded by AC and her friends, my bottom lip drooping out as far as it could go.. and one of them said, “Well… at least they’re not the Ain’ts anymore”.
And you know what? She’s absolutely right.
These New Orleans Saints have not only put paid to those depressing decades, they’ve restored faith for themselves, their fans, and their city. In a single, spectacular year, they obliterated all trace of the Aints.
And so while there’s no celebration here tonight, I’m not nearly as sad as I was, because tonight I can say, “There’s always next year!” — and mean it.
Cuz they’ll be back.
It was a helluva season.
