I stumbled across a post this evening in the blogosphere in which the individual talked about coming up on their 1,000th visitor. They had this really nice idea about some kind of prize or recognition… and Polimom thought, “Hmmmmm. I wonder how many have come to Polimom’s blog?”
I was shocked to discover that I’ve apparently let some major milestones go by. Bad Polimom! We passed by 1,000, 10,000, and 50,000 without even a “Boo” from me. However, we’re coming up on another round number, so Polimom thinks it might be fun to acknowledge visitor number…. 60,000.
Now it’s possible – maybe even likely – that I’ll mess this up and forget to pay attention to this stat again. If I do manage to remember, though, Polimom thinks it might be fun to invite that poor sot lucky person to write a guest post.
Of course, this unknown person might decline, or be unidentifiable, in which case Polimom plans to just pick on the next person… or the next… or the next….
So – having said that…. either stay away for awhile or start working on your drafts, cuz we’ll cross that number sometime this week.

Think New Orleans has kicked off a viral linking campaign for those who blog about New Orleans. The rules (and the why’s) are posted at Link Think New Orleans. I like the idea – it’s a great way to widen …
The Senate is planning to vote this evening on a slightly modified version of Monday’s defeated bail-out bill. They’ve added a couple of things. The bill adds new provisions – including raising the FDIC insurance cap to $250,000 from $100,000 …
I’ve been saving this shot for the obvious. We’re off to the mountains for spring break, so you’ll have to put up with this shot til I come back. (And yes… we’ll probably detour Tenaha. Just because….) :>
I’m outside on the patio right now, researching for a post about Obama’s speech in Cairo today. (Added: post’s finally up!) It’s a breezy, not-yet-hot day — and I’m anticipating the arrival of any number of hyper-excited young teenagers …
Gee, here I was feeling all excited about having a random thousand people wander past my blog, and then I read this. Kind of took the wind out of my (very small) sails. Hmm… maybe I should lurk around here in the hopes of being #60,000, so I could guest post on a site where someone might actually read the random trash I write. Yesss… Interesting…
Oops. I surely wasn’t trying to hurt feelings with this entry.
::hangs head::
OTOH – I read some of your blog entries, and I’m thinkin’ it’d likely be a fun post if you are the (un)lucky hit.
Nah, no hurt feelings at all. I’m actually amazed that anyone bothers to read what I post. Really I’m just in it to entertain my friends and mortify any of my family members who have to drop by. Anyway, if I *do* end up the (un)lucky visitor, please let me know. I’ll come up with something super bonus trashy to post.
How fun! There are a number of people who are keeping tabs on the status of this post. I suspect that means there are a few who have something to say to the world… :>
So – as an update: it is 9:10 am on Wednesday March 29 – and the last visitor was number 59,773.
Just in case you’re wondering – I’ve contacted number 60,000, and am waiting for a response.
