Algiers folks –
We have established a line of communication to Jackie Clarkson, and this morning she sent a message to all of you. It is posted here in the Algiers Forums, on Polimom.com.
The long and the short of it is that yes, they are bringing Algiers back up very fast, and it looks like you will be able to head home sooner, rather than later.
It’s been very hard on you, living in limbo, wondering whether the fate of the rest of Orleans Parish will affect your ability to go home. Two weeks sounds oh so much better than the many alternatives… and a sense of the timeline will doubtless give you some peace of mind.
More later…

My husband returned Tues. to our home in Algiers. He has seen quite a few people returning to their homes to retrieve belongings, check on pets, etc. The neighbors he has spoken to have all said they were not checked for ID coming in. I wanted to pass this along for anyone who might want to try to go home today, before Jeff Parish locks down. Good luck & God bless!
I spent the day in Algiers today, cleaning my refridgerator, etc. I live on Prancer, and a cleanup crew cleared all the streets between Vixen and Fiesta today. They were working between Fiesta and Copernicus when I left. The Line crews were working their way down Behrman Highway and DeGaul. In fact there was one at the Intersection of Holiday and DeGaul when I left. Expect to have power back in the area by this weekend.
