Okay… so Little Green Footballs isn’t exactly a moderate site (*cough*) — but they are a big site. So when I saw this story headline on memeorandum today, I wondered what was up: Palin-Hatred Reaching Rabid Level
It’s a short post. It shows a very ugly depiction of Sarah Palin, and then lambasts the MSM because “they don’t write a word about the ugly, in-your-face demonization and hatred you can easily find everywhere Obama supporters hang out”.
People, please. The site they’re freaking about gets all of 68 hits at the moment on google — one of which is LGF. If Obama supporters are “hanging out” there, they’re being mighty quiet about it. Ignoring it, even.
Way to manufacture a controversy there, guys.
And along those same lines… there was another story floating around in the blogosphere about how the McCain-Palin “Straight Talk Express” bus was shot at. A window shattered! Paintballs fired!
But nearly two days later, there’s not a single confirming photo, story, report — nothing. There are, however, 4,540 hits out there on the ‘net about that little piece of hyperbolic fiction…
Fringe, meet fringe.
I’d be content to just leave these left and right slivers out there to self-negate one another, except that this is how meme’s are born. You just know somebody’s going to go into a voting booth somewhere and vote based on this kind of garbage.
Update: Via Ross Douthat, I see that the ugly Palin poster is showing up in New York.

I think that’s a very flattering picture of the pitbull-with-lipstick lady. She’s the rabid one, not her critics.
Maybe it was a hyperbolic paintball gun used to shoot at McCain’s bus.
