Some years ago, water started seeping into the yard from the neighbor’s house. They were out of town for the holidays, so we peeped over the fence to see what was amiss… and through their back windows, we noticed that the kitchen ceiling was on the floor.
My dad vaulted the fence, broke in through the back, and shut off the water (an ingress they appreciated greatly), but they had one heckuva mess when they got home.
I understand their pain today. We were luckier with the ceilings, but it’s quite a mess here regardless. Not only are there full buckets for the leaks, and water heaters coming and going to and from the attic, but we’d also scheduled floor people (all week, starting today) to replace all the first floor carpets in the house.
Sigh… It’s starting to look like a low budget Christmas this year.
I think I need a pretty picture.

I can’t explain what it is about this image that pulls me so strongly… I don’t work in black and white enough, I don’t think — cuz when it works, it’s awesome.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for some morning fog, so I can get out and shoot… and I was thrilled Thursday morning when I looked outside and saw that we were socked in. Quickety splickety, I was out the door …
