This is just a shout-out to those folks from New Orleans who still read Polimom, all these (not so many) years later.
As I write, the projections suggest that the surge this time could potentially be the worst case scenario for NOLA. Eric Berger (my absolute GoToGuy for hurricanes) has a truly scary post up that just curls my toes. I can already feel the anxiety across all the miles, emanating from my former home.
I’m so sorry that you’re facing this again. I’m holding my breath, and expect to continue doing so for the next 24 hours or so, as we watch to see what Gustav will do.
Even as all of us in my part of the Gulf Coast start to make preparations, though, I — and many many people I’ve talked to — are thinking of you.
Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best. Take care of yourselves, your loved ones, and your pets.
Check in if you can, and feel like it.
Fingers crossed.
Update: NOLA.com now has a more comprehensive version of Eric Berger’s post from earlier today. The upshot? Get out, New Orleans. Right now.
