It’s about darned time!
What’s been the hold up, anyway? It’s been obvious for years that America is stuck in a political rut.
Polimom’s had fingers and toes crossed for months, hoping to see a race between Hillary and Condi. Talk about leveling the playing field, while simultaneously pushing everybody’s hot-buttons! A choice between them would give everybody something to get behind (or in front of, depending…).
If, however, the next campaign for the White House includes only one of these ladies, Polimom thinks it’s a near certainty that such a race would devolve into a chromosomal bash-fest. In fact, those possessed of the fearless “Y” have already started trying to spin things:
“I don’t think the American people, if you look historically, elect angry candidates. And whether it’s the comments about the plantation or the worst administration in history, Hillary Clinton seems to have a lot of anger,” Mehlman told ABC’s “This Week.”
Sorry, Mehlman, but I don’t see Hillary as a seething volcano about to erupt. By the same token, Condi’s foot doesn’t fit the hair-trigger warmonger slipper, either:
Rice has a handicap because of her assiduous cheerleading for the disastrous war in Iraq. Before the U.S. attack, she appeared often on the Sunday talk shows to promote an invasion and warning that Saddam Hussein had a “smoking gun” that would turn into a “mushroom cloud.”
None of that was true, of course, but we have heard no apologies from her.
I do, however, sense enormous frustration from many Americans, who are positively disgusted with the American political scene.
Time for a change? Oh, yes! Please!?!
I don’t see Hillary as angry….it’s just the same old story. An opiniated man is decisive and forceful. A woman is just a b***h.

Ok, this is gonna piss somebody off, but I have to say it: Condi will never be president for the same reason Bobby J ain’t governor. They may be ready for a woman, but a black President? The GOP would crash and burn in the South, where they’ve made their entire bed around being the safe haven for racists. Now let them lie in it.
(Yes, I know Bobby J. is Indian. I still believe that’s why he didn’t make it. People in greater La. just aren’t that opened minded. Sorry, Bobby).
I watched somebody on cable the other week twisting around on the issue if the angry Hilliary thing was sexists. (It was Andrea Mitchell, now that I think about it). It’s ain’t my place as a guy, but we all know what they mean. Men are assertive, women are, um, hysterial?
You might be right, Markus, but race wouldn’t be an issue for Condi. Only for the fools who can’t see past that. And I sure can think of worse outcomes than such a crash and burn. :>
Myself, I like the combination of Hillary v. Condi partly because it’s more than just two women. Were they to actually be the choices for president, imagine the consternation for some folks.
Republicans who are racist would either have to get past that, or vote Democrat… which seems pretty unlikely since the Republicans start to twitch any time they hear the word “Clinton”.
People who are moderate but not racist would have choices based on issues for a change.
It’s hard to say what the bizarre far left would do, since they seem to see Hillary as much too close to center.
I just like the idea because it positively levels the playing field. I have no idea, personally, who I’d vote for, but they’re both brilliant, capable women, either of whom could lead a country.
I agree totally, though, with Traveling Mermaid. The common Y word for a XX with forcefulness and decision-making powers is b***h.
