MN Governor Tim Pawlenty says (via The Politico) that John McCain is going to compete for Hillary’s backers.
John McCain portrayed her as a trailblazing model for aspring female politicians yesterday and now one of his top surrogates and vice-presidential prospects is taking the next natural step and promising that they’ll compete for Hillary Clinton’s supporters.
“I think many of those voters are going to consider and support Senator McCain,” said Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty in an afternoon conference call designed to prebut Obama’s speech tonight in St. Paul.
If you’re one of those who supported Hillary Clinton, and are now considering John McCain because you truly think he’s a better candidate on the issues than Hillary, then more power to you.
If, on the other hand, you plan to vote for McCain because you want to “punish” the Democrats because your candidate did not win, then I strongly recommend this little essay from the NY Times.
It is important to remember that Roe v. Wade did not mean that abortions could be performed. They have always been done, dating from ancient Greek days.
What Roe said was that ending a pregnancy could be carried out by medical personnel, in a medically accepted setting, thus conferring on women, finally, the full rights of first-class citizens — and freeing their doctors to treat them as such.
Issues matter, and John McCain has been very clear about where he stands on this one.
Cutting off one’s nose has never, ever improved a face.
